I live in Zone 8b, western WA state. The last frost here is generally the last week of April. This conradicts the chart shown here by quite a lot. We would be foolish to to plant anything tender in March.

Hey, fellow West Coaster, I live in 8b as well, in southern Oregon. My dad also lives in 8b, and we have vastly different climates. Sometimes, I think the Sunset zones would be a better choice to determine the last frost date.

Remember that the "average" last frost means roughly half of all years; you will get a frost after that date. I can remember plenty of years when we did not get a frost after March 15th, so the published date seems valid for my data set, but I like to live on the edge. I believe you might as well try to get an early harvest. If you fail, just plant again. Seeds are cheap!
